India Rejects Allegations Against Its High Commissioner Amid Diplomatic Row with Canada

In a significant escalation of diplomatic tensions, India has firmly rejected allegations made by the Canadian government against its High Commissioner, Sanjay Kumar Verma. The Ministry of External Affairs called these accusations "preposterous" and attributed them to the political motivations of the Trudeau administration. Following concerns over the safety of its diplomats in Canada, India has decided to withdraw its High Commissioner and several other officials. This move comes amid ongoing friction linked to allegations involving the 2023 killing of a Khalistani activist in Canada.

India criticized Canada's handling of the situation, emphasizing that no credible evidence had been shared to support the accusations. As the dispute intensifies, both nations have expelled diplomats in a tit-for-tat response, reflecting the strained state of bilateral relations.
